Some smiles take a surgeon to rebuild.
Dr Ashutosh Dutt Pathak is an oral and maxillofacial surgeon with more than 13 years in practice. He treats the cases other clinics pass on, implants where very little bone is left, jaws that do not meet properly, facial injuries, along with the everyday dental care your family needs.
Teeth are the smallest part of it
An oral and maxillofacial surgeon works on the whole structure: the jaws, the joint they hinge on, the cheekbones, and the bone that holds every tooth in place.
That is why an implant case another clinic could not solve often has an answer here. When the usual bone is gone, there is still solid bone nearby, and the training to reach it safely.
From a filling to a full jaw rebuild
Most people come to us for one of six reasons. Whatever brings you in, you will get a clear explanation of what is happening and what your choices are, in plain words.

Told you do not have enough bone for implants?
When teeth have been missing for years, the jaw bone slowly melts away. A normal implant has nothing solid to hold on to, and many clinics stop there.
There is another route. A zygomatic implant is longer, and instead of relying on the thin upper jaw it anchors into the cheekbone, which stays strong. A pterygoid implant does something similar towards the back of the mouth. Dr Pathak places both.
- Often avoids months of bone grafting and waiting
- Fixed teeth, not something you take out at night
- Planned from a CT scan before anything is touched
An implant replaces the root as well as the crown, which is why it holds like a natural tooth.
Who will see you
A surgeon who operates and a doctor who understands infection. That combination is unusual in a dental practice, and it matters most when something goes wrong.
Dr Ashutosh Dutt Pathak
He completed his BDS at Indore CDSH College in 2008 and his MDS in oral and maxillofacial surgery at PCDS College, Bhopal in 2013, followed by a FIDE fellowship. Since then he has worked on the mouth, jaws, jaw joint, face, neck and skull.
His day can move from a routine extraction to rebuilding a jaw after a road accident. What stays the same is the planning: scans and measurements first, surgery second, and an honest conversation about what is realistic.
Dr Preeti Pathak
She completed her MBBS in 2013 at Navodaya Medical College, Karnataka, under Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, and her MD in microbiology at Peopl e’s University in 2026.
Microbiology is the study of the organisms that cause infection. In practical terms, she sets the sterilisation standards here, advises on which antibiotic is actually needed instead of guessing, and helps read lab results when a swelling or infection is not settling the way it should.
If your bite has never felt right
Some people grow up with a jaw that sits too far forward or too far back. Braces alone can straighten the teeth, but they cannot move the bone the teeth are sitting in.

- Planned together with your orthodontist
- Chewing, breathing and appearance improve together
- Also used for cleft lip and palate correction
Corrective jaw surgery moves the jaw bone itself, so the bite and the profile change together. Planned from scans before anything begins.
The surgeon who knows the bone underneath
Facial aesthetic work was formally recognised for oral and maxillofacial surgeons by the Government of India and the Dental Council of India in December 2022. It sits naturally with this training, because the shape of a face is decided by the bone under the skin.
Nose reshaping, eyelid surgery, ear correction, facelift, jawline and cheek contouring, smile design, braces and aligners, fillers, and scar revision.
Your first visit, step by step
Nobody enjoys not knowing what is coming. Here is the order things happen in, so there are no surprises.
You tell us the problem
In your own words. Pain, a broken tooth, a swelling, or something you are unhappy with about your smile.
Examination and scan
Dr Pathak examines you and takes an X ray or CT scan if the case needs one. Guesswork helps nobody.
Options and costs
You get every reasonable option, what each involves, how long it takes, and what it will cost. Written down.
Treatment and follow up
You decide, then we treat. Afterwards you get clear aftercare instructions and a number to call if anything worries you.
Every instrument, every time
Sterilisation is the part of a dental clinic that patients never see, which is exactly why it deserves saying out loud.
Instruments go through a full cycle before they come anywhere near you: scrubbed, cleaned in an ultrasonic bath, sealed into a dated pouch, and steam sterilised in an autoclave under pressure. The pouch is only opened in front of you at the chair.

Surfaces wiped between patients, single use items genuinely single use, and the autoclave tested rather than assumed.
Things people ask before booking
Will it hurt?
The treatment itself should not. Local anaesthetic is given properly and we wait until the area is genuinely numb before starting, which is the part clinics rush. Larger surgery is done under sedation or general anaesthetic.
Afterwards there is usually some soreness for a few days. You will be told exactly what to expect and given medication for it, so nothing comes as a shock.
Another dentist said implants are not possible for me. Is that final?
Not always. Usually that answer means there is not enough bone for a standard implant, which is true but is not the end of the discussion. Zygomatic and pterygoid implants are designed for exactly that situation, and bone grafting is another route.
Bring your existing X rays or scan. Dr Pathak will tell you honestly whether something is possible for you, including when it is not.
Do I need a referral to come here?
No. Many patients are referred by their own dentist or doctor, but you can call and book directly. If you already have reports, scans or a treatment plan from somewhere else, bring them along.
How much will my treatment cost?
It depends entirely on what you need, and anyone who quotes a figure before examining you is guessing. What we can promise is that you will get the full cost in writing before treatment begins, with no items added later.
If a treatment can be staged over time to spread the cost, we will tell you.
Do you treat children?
Yes. Children are seen for check ups, cavities, fluoride treatment and sealants, along with tongue tie release and other minor procedures. We also handle facial injuries in children, which need a careful eye because the bones are still growing.
I have swelling and pain right now. What should I do?
Call 94254 71919 and say it is urgent. Facial swelling in particular should not be left to see if it settles on its own, especially if it is spreading, if opening your mouth is becoming difficult, or if you have a fever.
